Diagnose the SSE4.2 CPU error at Demo startup
The exact error “A CPU with SSE4.2 instruction set support is required” points to a CPU instruction requirement. A Find The Needle Demo player reports it on an AMD processor without that instruction set. Godot's documentation describes SSE4.2 requirements for its x86_64 builds.
First check what your system exposes. A graphics launch option does not supply a missing CPU instruction. No developer-provided 32-bit Demo or successful game-specific bypass was established by the sources checked here.

Check SSE4.2 on Windows with Coreinfo
Microsoft's Sysinternals Coreinfo reports processor features. This is a diagnostic tool, not a modified game executable. Use Microsoft's own download page linked in the sources.
- Save the exact game error and identify your CPU model. On Windows, Task Manager's Performance → CPU view can help identify the processor.
- Download Coreinfo from Microsoft and extract its archive into a folder you can find.
- Open a terminal in that folder. For the 64-bit Windows program, run
.\Coreinfo64.exe -fto list CPU features. - Find the
SSE4.2row. Microsoft's sample uses*for a supported feature and-for an unavailable feature. Read that specific row;SSE4ais a separate entry.
This procedure diagnoses Windows CPU features. It does not test Find The Needle's performance or certify Linux/Proton compatibility.
Use the result to choose the next step
SSE4.2 is unavailable: you have identified a likely reason for the exact instruction-set error. Keep the result and ask the developer whether a compatible official build exists. The Reddit question requests a 32-bit build but has no reply when checked; that request is not evidence that one is available.
SSE4.2 is supported but the same error appears: record the exact executable/build and whether the game runs inside a virtual machine. Report the CPU model, the relevant Coreinfo row and the error together. A supported feature does not identify the remaining cause.
Your error is different: this diagnosis does not explain every startup crash. A black screen or graphics-driver timeout belongs to a separate renderer test.
Why the 32-bit Godot note is not a Demo download
Godot's documentation distinguishes 32-bit builds requiring SSE2 from x86_64 builds requiring SSE4.2. A player cannot turn a packaged 64-bit game into a compatible 32-bit game by installing the engine editor or choosing a Windows compatibility setting.
A suitable game export would need to be supplied by its developer. This guide does not host one, recommend an unrelated executable or promise an emulator workaround. Keep saves intact: language edits and save deletion do not address the missing instruction reported by this error.
Send a useful compatibility report
Include the Demo build, Windows version, CPU model, exact error and the single SSE4.2 result. If using a VM, state that too. You do not need to publish your complete machine report or personal file paths.
The original Demo question is the source of this task. It contains a request for developer support, not a confirmed launch fix. Successful diagnosis means you know which compatibility question to ask; it does not mean the game now runs.
