Download & PC checks
Download the free Steam Demo and find the right Library entry
Open the official Find The Needle Demo listing and choose Install Demo. Check the developer is FindTheNeedleDev and the publisher is Hay Passionates. The free Demo has its own app ID, 5165210; the main game's listing is app 5160800.
You can download the Demo now. The main game still shows a Q4 2026 release window when checked October 8; wishlisting that listing is a different action from installing the Demo.

Install the Demo, then launch it from Steam
- Check your computer first. Read the Windows and dedicated-GPU requirements, especially if your laptop only has integrated graphics.
- Use the official Steam client. If you need it, start at Steam's own installation page. Sign in to the account you want to use for your Library.
- Open the Demo's store page. Confirm the name includes Demo and the URL contains
/app/5165210/. Choose Install Demo and allow the Steam client to handle installation. - Complete Steam's installation prompt. Choose the library location and wait for the download to finish. Do not treat a partially downloaded entry as a game startup failure.
- Open Find The Needle Demo in Library. Launch that entry when Steam offers Play. If you opened the upcoming full-game listing instead, return to the Demo link above.
Free Demo, full game and other needle games
The Demo store page lists its release as September 10, 2026. That release date belongs to the Demo, not to the full game. The free download does not establish the full game's price or promise that saves will transfer.
Search results also return Roblox experiences and other Steam haystack games. Match the developer, publisher and app ID before following a walkthrough. A similarly named browser game or Roblox code page is not an installation route for this Steam Demo.
Do not use the early itch.io alpha's version number as the version of the Steam download. After installation, record the build shown in your game when comparing a guide with your controls.
Choose help by what happens after Play
- An error explicitly mentions SSE4.2: use the CPU feature check.
- The menu is black or the graphics driver crashes: compare your hardware with the store requirements, then read the reversible renderer test. Neither step promises to cure every crash.
- The game runs but the text is unreadable: use the English-language settings guide.
- You can play and want to automate: choose a blocker in Factory setup rather than applying unrelated startup flags.
A successful download means Steam has installed the correct Demo entry. A successful launch means you can reach and use its menu. Neither is a benchmark for a large factory later in a run.
